Aspiring referees complete Young Referees workshop ahead of the African Schools Football Championship Continental Finals 2024
With just a few days to go before the start of the CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental Finals Zanzibar 2024, aspiring referees completed a two-day refresher workshop to fine-tune their knowledge of the laws of the game ahead of the four-day tournament.
The CAF African Schools Football Championship officially kicks-off in Zanzibar and will take place over an exciting four-day youth football event at Zanzibar’s Amaan Stadium between 21 - 24 May where the continental champions in both the Boys and Girls U-15 divisions will be crowned.
As part of CAF’s strategic approach in utilising the tournament’s platform to capacitate African youth, the tournament will be officiated by Young Africans from across the continent under the age of 25.
The team of officials have been involved in a two-day refresher training course which also included fitness tests to ensure that they are in the best physical condition ahead of what promises to be an exciting youth football competition.
The group of young match officials, comprising of both boys and girls completed their training on Sunday afternoon, ahead of the draw scheduled to take place in the evening which will be attended by CAF Legends, Emmanuel Adebayor (Togo), Daniel Amokachi (Nigeria) and Amanda Dlamini (South Africa).
The two-day training forms part of CAF’s various capacity building programmes that runs parallel to the competition which include the Young Reporters Programme, Young Referees Programme, Young Medical Officers Programme, CAF D License Coaching Course, as well as the ongoing CAF Safeguarding workshops to encourage safety in youth football.
