CAF announces Fixtures, Key Dates and Details of 2024/25 CAF Interclub Competitions
The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) has announced the fixtures and other key information for the 2024/2025 Interclub Competitions after the draw for the competitions were held.
CAF officially conducted the draw of the Preliminary Stages of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup 2024/25 season on Thursday, 11 July, at the CAF Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
In the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League ambitious Djibouti side Arta Solar were drawn to face Somali side Dekadaha FC while Young Africans’ clash with Burundi’s Vital’o are among the 54 matches to be played.
Title holders Al Ahly, Esperance and Sundowns are among the highest ranked clubs exempted from the first preliminary round.
The 1st Preliminary Round First Leg will take place between 16 – 18 August for the first legs, with the return leg set to be played between 23 – 25 August 2024.
The 2nd Preliminary Round will then follow between 13 – 15 September for the first legs, while the return legs to confirm the draw for the Group Stages will be played between 20 – 22 September 2024.
The 12 highest ranked clubs in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup including holders Zamalek were also exempted from the first preliminary round that will witness the anticipated tough clash between Moroccan side UTS and RS Abidjan of Cote d’Ivoire.
Registration Periods:
CAF Organising Committee of Interclub Competitions announced the following key registration dates for the preliminary rounds:
· 1st Registration Period:
- Start Date: 1 July 2024
- End Date: 20 July 2024
- Eligibility: Players participating from the preliminary round
- ITC Deadline: 20 July 2024
· 2nd Registration Period:
- Start Date: 21 July 2024
- End Date: 31 August 2024
- Eligibility: Players entering from the second preliminary round
- ITC Deadline: 31 August 2024
CAF revealed the list of homologated stadiums for the First Preliminary Round of matches in both competitions.
All teams participating in the 1st Preliminary Round must send the date, kick-off time, and venue of their home matches to CAF by 25th July 2024.
Clubs seeking alternative venues not on the homologated list must send their requests by 22nd July 2024 otherwise CAF will assign the match to one of the approved stadiums on the list.
