ASEC Mimosas have carved their name into Ivorian football history with a moment that will live long in the memory. For the very first time, the club will step onto the grand stage of the CAF Women’s Champions League, after a dramatic victory in the WAFU B Qualifiers final against Nigeria’s Bayelsa Queens.

The clash at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium last Friday had all the drama fans could dream of. Locked at 1-1 after full time, the two sides went toe-to-toe in a nerve-wracking penalty shootout. In the end,  Mimosas held their nerve to edge 9-8 on penalties, sparking scenes of joy among players, staff, and supporters.

This qualification is no accident. It is the fruit of years of investment and vision in women’s football.

ASEC Mimosas have built solid foundations—focusing on nurturing young talent, strengthening technical and medical setups, and professionalizing their coaching structures.

By reaching the continental stage, ASEC Mimosas now join Africa’s elite, set to proudly fly Côte d’Ivoire’s colours alongside reigning champions TP Mazembe (DR Congo), USFAS (Mali), (WAFU Zone A winners), and Gaborone United (Botswana, COSAFA representatives).

The Ivorian giants head into their maiden CAF Women’s Champions League campaign with ambition and determination, ready to embrace the challenge.
